    At U17 Gold the officiating did not always keep up with the pace, though it was never unfair. Organisation and value are both top of the market. December timing means you are competing with family plans for roster availability.

    One building, one parking garage, four games across three days, and hotels nearby that we chose ourselves. The hall is loud with sixteen games running at once, which bothered my youngest. Otherwise excellent.

    192 teams and it never felt chaotic because you are never more than two minutes from your next court. IHSAA officials, clear bracket boards, streamed championship that our grandparents actually watched. Best-run event on our calendar.

    Everything in one hall, shot clocks on every court, and four games for 795 with no hotel mandate. We have entered five basketball events this year and this was the only one where every tip-off was on time. Concessions are convention-centre priced so pack food.
